- HAUNTED HOUSE
- by
- Joe Garrett
-
-
- You stand outside of the
-
- dilapidated mansion and watch the sun
-
- fade below the horizon. The night
-
- wind is very cool-- there's no way
-
- you can spend the night outside or
-
- make the hike back to town before you
-
- freeze.
-
-
- Shivering against the chill, you
-
- try to forget the details of the
-
- house's rather strange history, all
-
- of the home town apocrypha that you
-
- sneered at.
-
-
- You jerk the door open; it swings
-
- on rusty hinges (of course). You
-
- enter and wait for your eyes to
-
- adjust to the darkness. The musty
-
- air is full of strange rustlings.
-
- Perhaps this mansion isn't quite as
-
- deserted as you thought.
-
-
- All the tales are true-- many
-
- strange and dangerous creatures prowl
-
- the dusty corridors of this text
-
- adventure game. One wrong move could
-
- be your last.
-
-
- But if you use your wits and steel
-
- your nerves, you might be able to
-
- strike a bargin with these unsavory
-
- beasts to claim treasure and win back
-
- your life.
-
-
- Like virtually all text adventure
-
- games, HAUNTED HOUSE works by
-
- describing your surroundings. By
-
- typing in commands, you're able to
-
- move about the setting or find and
-
- use various objects.
-
-
- The commands used in HAUNTED HOUSE
-
- are:
-
- 1. (u)se
- 2. (l)ook
- 3. (g)et
- 4. quit
-
- Movement in the game is controlled
-
- by typing (n)orth, (s)outh, (e)ast,
-
- and (w)est.
-
-
- And as with most text adventure
-
- games, making a map, in this case of
-
- the house's rooms, is a good idea.
-
- But while a map might make the
-
- adventure easier, what HAUNTED HOUSE
-
- wouldn't have many surprises in store
-
- for the unwary traveller?
